Purpose and Focus of metro Bethesda Rotary Foundation

The metro Bethesda Rotary Foundation is a non-profit corporation operating exclusively for educational and charitable purposes in accordance with Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The purpose of the foundation is to support the metro Bethesda Rotary Club's efforts to provide humanitarian assistance locally and internationally, and to promote peace, understanding, and educational and cultural advancement.
The Foundation is managed by a Board of Directors consisting of members of metro Bethesda Rotary club but operated independently.
The Foundation is funded in multiple ways: by direct contribution by each club member through dues (currently $100 per year); fundraisers including our "Purple Tee" golf tournament and the Fall Festival; "happy bucks" and other contributions.
The Foundation has two grant cycles for distributing funds each Rotary year (July 1-June 30). The Fall deadline is October 31 and a Spring deadline of April 30. The Foundation Board meets about two weeks after each deadline for review and vote on grant applications.
