International Women’s Day

On March 4, 2021, for our International Women’s Day Celebration, MBR welcomed guest speaker Rotary Foundation Trustee Geeta Manek. Geeta expressed her gratitude and told us about some of her extraordinary humanitarian work and life experiences through her several decades of Rotary leadership positions in Kenya and internationally.
We’re all longing for the day we can celebrate IWD in person again. Until then, relive our 2020 IWD Event at the World Bank.

Dec. 2020: Nourishing Bethesda for the Holidays

Thanks to MBR members who participated in the Nourishing Bethesda food distribution in December. 270 families were served before the food ran out.

Sept. 2020: Feed the Need

We’re gratified to report that we’ve donated 250 delicious meals from Ooh’s & Aah’s to Casa Ruby, a DC-based LGBT Community Center. This project is part of MBR’s Feed the Need initiative, which supports local restaurants while providing meals to underserved communities. Over the past several months, we’ve also provided 80 meals to the Greentree Shelter, an emergency shelter that’s part of the National Center for Children and Families, and another 80 to local first responders. Thank you for continuing to support Feed the Need!

Jan. 2021: MBR Goes Social!

MBR members managed to have a COVID safe social event for those of us who craved social interaction. Thanks to Russell and Xan who offered up their yard and screened-in porch for us to enjoy!

 Oct. 2020: Fall Stream Clean

About a dozen Metro Bethesda Rotarians and friends recently (and safely) got out to clean a local stream at Ray’s Meadow Park.

Sept. 2020: Purple Tee Raises Funds for Vets Orgs

The Purple Tee was a great success this year, raising a record amount of funds for SMGA, Team River Runner, and the Metro Bethesda Rotary Foundation. Special thanks to the Purple Tee Committee who coordinated this huge event under difficult COVID circumstances — including our first online auction!
