What’s Doing @MBR in November

Upcoming Service Project – Feed Bethesda

Sat., Nov. 21 9 am-noon. This month MBR will help support the “Feed Bethesda” project in partnership with the BCC Club to provide Thanksgiving meals to Bethesda families in need. We help provide funds to purchase the grocery items needed. (In the past we have helped assemble the bags for delivery; however, this year due to COVID, the BCC family in charge will do all the packing. ) We will again help with delivering the bags. See the Club bulletin for location and more details.

Rotary International: The Global Polio Eradication Initiative

This month is a good opportunity to learn more about one of Rotary International’s most important projects – eradicating polio. The Global Polio Eradication Initiative is a public-private partnership led by national governments with five partners – the World Health Organization (WHO), Rotary International, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Gavi, the vaccine alliance. Its goal is to eradicate polio worldwide. Learn more >

What’s Doing @MBR in August

Feed the Need
Throughout the month of August, our Club will support Oohh’s & Aahh’s, a Black-owned DC restaurant, by purchasing meals to donate to Casa Ruby. Casa Ruby provides LGTBQ, bilingual, multicultural social services and is run by two transgender women of color. Our goal is to provide the 250 meals Casa Ruby serves each day.  Each meal through Oohh’s & Aahh’s costs $12.50. Bob Margolis will match every dollar donated, and one of our speakers has started us out with a $100 donation to this effort!  Please refer to your weekly e-bulletin for the details on how to contribute to this worthy effort.
Scotty’s Vodka Sales to Benefit MBR
If you purchase from scottysvodka.com through Labor Day, 10% of your purchase price will be donated back to mBR.  2-bottle minimum, gluten free, distilled from corn, free delivery in Montgomery and Frederick Counties.  Scotty’s won triple gold at the Micro Liquor Spirit Awards.  A 10% discount is available if you purchase a case.  Be sure to mention your club membership when you order, and feel free to share this with others.
Shoe Drive is Back through the Month of August
Used shoes can be donated to Soles 4 Souls, an organization that ships shoes around the globe so that others may repair, use or sell them. Deliver your used shoes to the Greif driveway.
