The metro Bethesda Rotary Foundation is a non-profit corporation operating exclusively for educational and charitable purposes in accordance with Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Foundation's purpose is to support the metro Bethesda Rotary Club's efforts to provide humanitarian assistance locally and internationally, and to promote peace, understanding, and educational and cultural advancement.

The Foundation is managed by a Board of Directors consisting of members of the metro Bethesda Rotary Club but operating independently from the Club's Board of Directors.

Each metro Bethesda Rotary Club member contributes $100 per year directly to the Foundation. The Foundation also receives a portion of the proceeds from club fundraisers, including Purple Tee, and all of the "happy bucks" raised at the weekly club meetings.

The Foundation has two grant cycles for distributing money each Rotary year. The fall deadline for grant applications is October 31, 2016, and the spring deadline is April 30, 2017. The Foundation Board meets about two weeks after each deadline to review and vote on grant applications. Click here to download the Foundation grant application.

The Foundation has supported a variety of local and international projects and charitable organizations, including the Abundant Life Program in the Dominican Republic; Kids in Need Distributors (KIND); Bethesda Cares eviction & utility shutoff prevention; project Beacon Hope to support visually impaired children in Kirov, Russia; prevention of hearing loss for children in Nepal; a scholarship at B-CC High School; A Wider Circle; the Rotary Dictionary Project; and more.

All of this is made possible through your generous donations. If you have any questions about the Foundation, please email Julian Mansfield, Foundation President 2016-2017, at jpmansfield@yahoo.com."
